In September of 1993 the Wilderness Committee was able to get a large oldgrowth redcedar
stump from a recent MacMillan Bloedel clearcut in the Upper Kennedy River, Clayoquot Sound. The Wilderness Committee began to tour "Stumpy" around, starting with the BC Legislature. The Wilderness Committee's "publicity stump" was a ploy to gain more media attention for the save Clayoquot campaign - and it worked!
