In 2002 we set up an information picket at Golden Ears Provincial Park, near Maple ridge BC, to alert park goers that there were plans to log the forest on the opposite shore of Alouette Lake on Blue Mountain, right across from the picnic grounds. We called for Blue Mountain to be granted park protection and added to Golden Ears Provincial Park. The logging plans were eventually put on hold and the forest across from the picnic grounds have not been logged to this day (2009). However Blue Mountain has not yet been granted park status and forests on other areas of the mountain continue to be lost to logging.
