2008 Pitt Meadows public meeting about Upper Pitt Power Project

This is the public open house meeting held in March of 2008 regarding the proposal to dam and divert all eight tributaries of the Upper Pitt River for a private hydro power project. Over 1,000 people turned up to say a united NO to the developers. The next day the Environment Minister went on TV to say that he would not allow the company's powerline to be built through nearby Pinecone Burke Provincial Park, essentually killing the project.
