Located in the South Chilcotin area, Fish Lake is a spectacular and abundant lake under threat from an ill-conceived mining proposal.
Home to over 90,000 fish, it is a vital area for food and cultural traditions for the Tsilhqot’in people. A famed fishing spot and one of the most beautiful places in the province, it was featured on a postcard in a GoBC tourism promotion.
Taseko Mines has proposed to destroy Fish Lake by using it to store waste from a gold-copper mine, and replace it with a man-made lake.
