Salmon need Action on Climate Change

Thursday, October 8, 2009 (All day)

On October 24th, join thousands of people in Vancouver demanding Canada be a world climate leader.

Rising temperatures threaten wild salmon in BC. Unless we act now, wild salmon face a future of acidic oceans, food shortages, and more winter floods scouring spawning areas.  But if we act now we can avoid the worst impacts of climate change. Tell our governments to stand up for our wild salmon, for our families, for our future.

This December world leaders will meet in Copenhagen, Denmark to discuss the future of the Kyoto Protocol—the international treaty to reduce the greenhouse gases which cause global warming. On October 24th over 1,700 events will take place in 141 countries calling for their governments to take meaningful action on climate change in Copenhagen.

On October 24th, let’s get together and send our leaders a message: make us proud in Copenhagen. It’s time for real climate action.

It's time for a parade! At 11 am the Cambie Bridge is open to the public. At Noon there will be a welcoming ceremony and call for action at the peak of the bridge, and at 12:30 we'll start the parade down Pacific Boulevard to Science World.

At 2 pm, after the parade, we'll come together at Science World for workshops, food, performance, movies and more.

At 7 pm, head over to Christ Church Cathedral for inspirational speakers.

To get involved in this event and our campaign to deal with causes of climate change please join our Action List.
