The Movement to Stop Raven Coal is Picking Up Steam - Join the Effort!

On Monday night, I stood in a room with over 500 people who all shared a deep concern about the proposed Raven Coal Mine. And it was a very clear demonstration that we are on our way to winning this campaign.

Over 50 people asked questions and not one person spoke in favour of the mine.

People who are worried about the viability of their drinking water if Compliance Energy is allowed to dump toxic tailings into their watershed; people who are worried about the impact that heavy metal pollution would have on the Fanny Bay oyster industry; and people who are worried about what burning coal means for our climate and our future.

I was incredibly inspired to see the fighting spirit present in the room. As the cry of "no more coal" filled the room, I knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that we can beat this bad project. But we need to work together to do so.

Please write a letter today, your comment to the Environmental Assessment Office will make a difference. Please circulate this message to your friends and neighbours. And please help us fill the rooms at the next two meetings in Port Alberni and Union Bay.

Together we can make a stand against dirty coal. Together we can stand up for clean water, livable communities, and a healthy climate.

Together we will shut down the Raven Coal Mine.
