Awasak Ayahsig Sakahk: Children of the Forest Walk to Save Lemay

The Wilderness Committee is honoured to support the Lemay Forest Firekeepers for their walk in Winnipeg this Saturday.

Here is their invitation for you:

Awasaka Ayahsig Sakahk: Children of the Forest

The trees remember. The earth remembers. Even as time moves forward, the whispers of 3,383 children still linger in the wind, and the sorrow of over 700 mothers still seeps into the roots. This land is not just soil and stone—it is a graveyard of stolen breaths, a sanctuary of unheard prayers.

Yet, they would see it erased. Paved over. Forgotten. We will not let that happen.

On Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2 p.m. join us as we walk.
📣📣📣

Starting from the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, we carry their names, their stories, their truths.
For every child who never made it home.
For every mother whose cries went unanswered.
For the forest that has held their memory when no one else would.

Walk with us. Speak for them. Protect the sacred.

We’ll begin with an opening prayer, followed by the walk. There will be keynote speakers at the Legislative Building, ending with a feast.
