Vancouver Earth Day Parade

Wilderness Committee event
Sunday, April 22, 2012 - 11:00am - 3:00pm

"The Most Fun You Ever Had Saving the Planet"

It is our hope to recapture the roots of earth day as a celebration and a vehicle for environmental action. The parade event will be a celebration of positive change with a focus on global warming and social justice. Our goal is to fill the streets with thousands(!) of people so please bring your family, friends, dogs, cats, hop on your bike, create banners or dress up in costumes... lets make this day a memorable one!

On the morning of Sunday April 22nd, 2011 at 11am, we will meet meet at Grandview Hwy. and Commercial Dr. just North of Commercial-Broadway Skytrain station. The parade will proceed northwards on Commercial Drive and on to Grandview Park, where we will be hosting an earth day festival.

The festival will feature activities such as school/art competitions, music, a family tent, hands on activities, youth performers, and guest speakers.

This is Vancouver’s second annual Earth Day Celebration organized by youth for all youth and the families of Metro Vancouver. We hope to raise awareness and show our concern about the effects of climate change as it is at the forefront of environmental issues today. Youth are inheriting the world and feel the need to take action to not just make Vancouver, but the global community a healthier and better place to live in.
