Boom or Bust? BC's LNG Legacy

@ Quest University Canada This event takes place on unceded Coast Salish Territory

A group of residents is pleased to offer an opportunity for residents to hear from experts on liquified natural gas (LNG) while they discuss the province's plan for LNG development and what that means for the Sea to Sky corridor.

Join us on Tuesday, April 8th from 7pm - 9pm at Quest University in the Library Building to learn more about the implications for our community if the Woodfibre LNG project were to be approved.

Speakers include:

  • Matt Horne, Associate Regional Director, Pembina Institute
  • Jeremy Moorhouse, Senior Analyst with Clean Energy Canada
  • Marc Lee, Senior Economist, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (updated)

The Sea to Sky corridor has been thrust into the limelight with the proposal of the Woodfibre LNG processing and export facility. Woodfibre has completed weeks of public consultation in the corridor to hear the concerns of the public in order to create a facility that best meets the expectations of its neighbors.

However, many people left the consultations with unanswered questions. What does this mean for the air quality of the Sea to Sky airshed? How is Woodfibre connected to the natural gas industry in B.C? How many jobs can we expect from the facility?

B.C's Provincial government touts the expansion of the natural gas industry in the province as the 'once in a lifetime opportunity for greater prosperity'.

What does this new gold rush mean for the Sea to Sky corridor? Is this another cycle of boom and bust? Or is this the industry that will carry British Columbia into a future of sustainable economic growth?

Please R.S.V.P with the number in your group. No need to print out tickets.
