Schedule
May 26-27, 2017
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
Wilderness Committee office
46 East 6th Street, Vancouver

Day 1 (Friday) will be mostly classroom based, with an afternoon outdoor walk.
Day 2 (Saturday) will start with a classroom lesson, followed by a day hike to practice the various leadership roles required to put your planned trip into action, and conclude with a final exam.

This course is focused on hiking leadership for low-risk hikes and other land-based activities, but the skills learned will be directly transferable to leading groups in every conceivable outdoor environment. So while the terrain is aimed at beginner leaders, experienced leaders looking to refresh, certify, or reality-check their skills will have much to learn and are very welcome. This course is aimed at beginner leaders, so we do not expect you to be an 'expert hiker'. We will be spending a few hours outside each day, but we will not walk more than about 4 km over easy trails.
