Reject TECK! Event
Justin Trudeau and his Cabinet are about to make their first major climate decision since being re-elected: whether or not to approve the largest tar sands mine ever proposed.
Going ahead with the Frontier Mine, owned by Vancouver-based company Teck, would cause irreversible impacts on the environment.
Nearly double the size of the City of Vancouver, the pollution from Teck’s mega-mine would make it impossible to meet our international climate commitments. Teck would destroy old-growth forests, critical fish habitat, and lead to the permanent loss of 14,000 hectares of wetlands.
On Friday January 24th, we’ll be heading to the Minister of Environment’s office in North Vancouver to deliver a public petition urging the government to reject Teck. The more people there to deliver it, the louder our message will be. Hope to see you there!
