Webinar: Just Transition for workers

An illustration of two workers pointing towards text that says "Just Transition". End of image description.

Our world is changing faster than ever. Climate disasters are getting worse every year. But the rollout of renewable energy and other climate solutions is also speeding up. Global fossil fuel demand is expected to peak and begin to decline this decade.

This is both tremendous news and not fast enough. However, for workers, this pace of change can be daunting. Let’s hear what they need to navigate this transition successfully.

On October 24 at 7 p.m., with our friends at the Council of Canadians and the Worker Solidarity Network, we’ll hear from workers in several industries at the forefront of the transition away from fossil fuels.

  • Ivan Drury, Transportation worker, Transit Driver
  • Cliff Madsen, Aluminum sector worker, Unifor Local 2301
  • Byron Cruz, Migrant Worker Program Coordinator, BC Federation of Labour

These workers will share their hopes, fears and demands as the world takes on the climate crisis. Will you join us to hear how we can make sure nobody is left behind?

For climate action to be successful, it needs to be grounded in the principles of justice. That means thoughtful planning that includes the people whose jobs are at stake. There’s so much work to be done to build the world we need and these are the folks who should be first in line.
