Wild Salmon Speakers and Footage

Wild Salmon Protector Front Line Footage and Speakers

At the Grandview Calvary Baptist Church, 1803 East 1st Ave. in Vancouver

Join us for a first hand account of the challenges, successes and complexities of holding down 150 + days of occupation and awareness of the last stand for wild salmon.

An informative fundraising evening led by frontline salmon protectors and Hereditary Leaders. Hear from Molina Dawson and Karissa Glendale who have been enforcing their Indigenous rights and responsibilities for the future of wild salmon as they articulate their fierce opposition to disease spreading open net cage feedlots in their territory.

Hereditary Leaders will share about their meeting with the NDP earlier this day, and about their continuing resolve to assert decision making control over their lands, waters and resources in Kwakwaka’wakw territories of the Mama̱liliḵa̱la, ʼNa̱mǥis, Ławitʼsis, Da̱ʼnaxdaʼx̱w, Maʼa̱mtagila, and the four tribes of the Musgamagw Dzawada̱ʼenux̱w (in BC’s Broughton Archipelago).

For 30 years they have been saying they do not give their consent to this industry, and for 150 days they have been occupying their territory in opposition to the harmful fish farm industry.

A silent auction, donations at the door and an exciting new crowd-funder campaign to increase access for Indigenous Elders, Youth and Community will be launched at this event.

The timing of this event is critical; your vocal support for wild salmon, the Salmon Peoples across this coast, indigenous self-determination, rights and title and healthy coastal ecosystems for future generations is needed now more than ever. The NDP is currently deciding whether or not to renew the industry's leases, and needs to hear a clear demand from the community that Fish Farms put wild salmon at risk and need to be removed from these waters.
