VANCOUVER - Windermere Secondary School’s grade 11 leadership students, (Youth for Climate Justice Now,) along with the Wilderness Committee and Forest Ethics Advocacy are hosting the third annual Earth Day Celebration, March and Festival on Commercial Drive, today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHAT: The goal of the event is to highlight the need for urgent environmental action to fight climate change and move towards a greener, more sustainable future. This year’s Earth Day celebration will bring together students and adult allies, for a parade, celebration and day of learning.

WHEN: Saturday, April 20, 2013
11:00 a.m. – March begins at corner of Commercial Dr. and 8th Ave.
12:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Speakers and festivities at Grandview Park

WHERE: Parade north on Commercial Drive from 8th Ave. to Charles St.
Grandview Park

WHO: Speakers include…
• Amanda Nahanee, Cultural Ambassador for the Squamish Nation
• Niki Sharma, Park Board Commissioner
• Representatives of Youth for Climate Justice Now (Y4CJN)
• Eoin Madden, Wilderness Committee
• Ta’Kaiya Blaney, Youth Activist
• Ben West, Forest Ethics Advocacy
• Sam Harrison, Youth Activist
• Jolan Bailey, Leadnow

Musical performances include: Jasper Sloan-Yip, Corrina Keeling and the Tambai Marimba Youth Band. There will be NGO booths and activities for children, including face painting and games.
