Fish Lake defender honoured

Environmentalists are honouring a first nations chief who they say was instrumental in getting Fish Lake protected from a proposed mine.The Western Canada Wilderness Committee says it has presented Chief Marilyn Baptiste with the Eugene Rogers award.
    
Baptiste represents the Tsilhqot'in nation near Williams lake.
    
The Wilderness committee says Baptiste made a difference travelling around BC in 2010 to explain the importance of Fish Lake.

They say was the lake was being threatened by the proposed prosperity mine, a huge open-pit copper and gold mine.
