I spent the weekend with two of the Wilderness Committee's amazing volunteers, Ivan and his young daughter, Elodie cleaning up the camp at the Clayoquot Arm Bridge Camp, near Tofino.

It was actually a "test clean-up" really. We knew that with our small crew - literally small, Elodie is 6 years old - we could only get a small portion of the clean-up accomplished. The popular camp site is located on the shore of Kennedy Lake. Its free to camp here, so there are no services, including no garbage pick-up. It's a strictly "you pack in - you pack out" kind of place. Unfortunately, some folks have left their bottles, cans and other garbage behind - and this otherwise beautiful camping place is getting trashy.

This camp is in the newly designated Ha'uukmin Tribal Park. To see our latest report on the Tribal Park go to: http://wcwliquidweb.agentic.ca/sites/all/files/publications/2009_clayoq…

We will be going back to the Clayoquot Arm Bridge Camp in September with a larger group of volunteers to finish the job. Join us won't you! For more info about the September weekend trip to Clayoquot contact our volunteer coordinator: stephanie@wildernesscommittee.org

We are hoping that this camp will become one of the entrance ways to the new Tribal Park. Its a great place for camping, canoeing and exploring!
