Come trail building with the Wilderness Committee in Clayoquot Sound!

Friday, June 13, 2014

Hey you!

Want to spend four days in the legendary old-growth rainforests of Clayoquot Sound?

Want to help build and maintain infrastructure for First Nations ecotourism ventures?

Then it’s time to come trail-building with the Wilderness Committee!

We’re leading two expeditions to Clayoquot Sound this summer, to continue our work in partnership with Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks, a First Nations initiative aimed at developing sustainable economic activity in the region.

When:
July 4th – 7th
August 8th – 11th -- trip is full, wait list only
(both trips run from Friday to Monday)

Where:
Wah-nuh-jus—Hilth-hoo-is (Meares  Island) Tribal Park
Tla-o-qui-aht Territory
Just a short boat ride from Tofino

On these trips, we’ll clear new trail and maintain existing ones, transport supplies for boardwalks and other infrastructure, and do our part to reduce the forest's mosquito population using the classic hand/forehead technique (splat).

Trip participants need to be able to hike and engage in physical labour for the whole day, and camp in the backcountry at night. There are bears and wolves on the Island, so wildlife awareness is also key (plus bug spray…did I mention the mosquitoes?).

Interested? Send me an email at torrance@wildernesscommittee.org or call our office at (250) 388-9292.

Space is limited to 11 spots per trip, so get in touch soon!

Cheers,

Torrance Coste | Vancouver Island Campaigner
