A Holiday Wish for BC's Endangered Species
This holiday season, BC's species at risk are making a special wish.
What they’re wishing for is a law to protect them…and together, we have the power to help make that happen!
We need to let our elected leaders know how important it is that BC’s endangered wildlife be protected by a stand-alone provincial endangered species law.
British Columbia is one of only two Canadian provinces without endangered species legislation. Mountain caribou, spotted owls, grizzly bears, phantom orchids and badgers are just a few of the 1,900 species at risk in BC, and protection is even more critical now as wildlife face increasing threats from rapid industrial development and climate change.
You can take action today by visiting the BC endangered species website and signing the petition to the leaders of all provincial political parties—urging them to support a stand-alone endangered species law that adequately identifies and protects BC species and their habitat.
I encourage you to keep up to date on the campaign by following BC Species on Facebook and Twitter, where we’ll be posting news, photos and updates about wildlife in British Columbia. Please also take a minute to help us spread the word by sharing this page with your friends and family.
2013 could be a great year for BC species at risk. Let’s do our part to make sure they get their wish!

Thank you, and happy holidays!
