A environmental lobby group is trying to ban all mining from provincial parks.

The Wilderness Committee will deliver 3,600 letters to Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger today asking his government to impose the ban.

The wilderness group notes that 81 per cent of Nopiming Provincial Park in Eastern Manitoba is open for mining.

The letters will arrive while the province is consulting the public for its Draft Management Plan for Nopiming Provincial Park. The government is asking for comments on the draft management plan for Nopiming Provincial Park until November 30, 2015.
