Make the BC election about a healthy environment🌱and a safe climate! ⛅
Every day between elections, you and I spend our time standing up for forests, endangered species, wild areas and a healthy climate, no matter our immigration status. We write letters, make calls, head out on the ground into parks and protected areas and demand climate solutions instead of fossil fuel projects.
At election time, those of us who are registered voters get a chance to choose a candidate in our community that stands up for these values and agrees to make the one planet we have a priority.
- Get your voting package by mail: Today — Saturday, Oct. 17 — is your last day to order a mail-in ballot by 8 pm. It will be sent to your home within a few days. To ensure your ballot is received by Election Day on Oct. 24, drop it off at an electoral office, or an advance or election day polling station.
- Note: This is different from your voter registration card, which you may have already received.
- Vote in advance: You can vote at advance polling stations until Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 8 am to 8 pm (local time). Find your advance polling station here.
- I went to my advance polling station two days ago at 7 pm, and was in and out in less than ten minutes!
- Vote on election day: On Saturday, Oct. 24, you can vote at your local polling station from 8 am to 8 pm. Or you can vote at any district electoral office from 10 am to 4 pm.
In the meantime, visit the websites or call the offices of the candidates in your area and learn what they plan to do — if elected — for old-growth forests, Indigenous rights, endangered species, climate justice and the other issues we need action on.
Voting is far from the only way we engage in our democracy or speak up for the environment. After Oct. 24, we’ll be right back working to hold whoever forms the government accountable to the promises they made and the values we hold.
