MEDIA ADVISORY: Conservation groups in Federal Court in Vancouver on November 1-2 to protect migratory birds

Unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-waututh) First Nations (Vancouver) – Ecojustice lawyers, on behalf of Sierra Club BC and Wilderness Committee, will be in Federal Court in downtown Vancouver on November 1st and 2nd to advocate for the protection of migratory birds and their habitats across Canada. This hearing is the latest development in a case launched last spring.

What: A two day court hearing during which environmental groups will argue that the federal government must provide better protection to migratory bird species across Canada.

When: Wednesday, November 1st and Thursday, November 2nd. Hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:30am on Nov. 1.

Where: Federal Court at 701 W Georgia St., Vancouver B.C. 

Additional details: members of the media are not permitted to take photos or videos in the courtroom.   

Journalists are invited to attend the hearings. Spokespeople from Wilderness Committee and Sierra Club BC will be on site and available for comment and interviews outside the courthouse on the morning of Wednesday Nov. 1.
