MEDIA ADVISORY: Municipal Councillors & Citizens to Rally for Old-Growth Rainforest Outside UBCM Convention
VICTORIA - Local municipal leaders, environmentalists and citizens will gather and rally outside the Union of BC Municipalities convention today over the lunch hour.
The demonstrators will be showing their support for Metchosin Councillor Andy MacKinnon and other local elected officials who will be fighting to pass a motion against continued old-growth logging on Vancouver Island.
Councillor MacKinnon’s motion was removed from the agenda by the UBCM’s resolutions committee, but he and others will move to have it returned and voted on this week.
