Clayoquot sound is no place for a copper mine.

That's the message being delivered to shareholders attending the annual general meeting of Imperial Metals.

The company's conducting exploratory drilling on Catface Mountain in Clayoquot Sound.

Joe Foy with the Western Canada Wilderness Committee fears the exploration work could lead to an open-pit copper mine application by year's end.
Foy says if the mine goes ahead the top of the mountain would be blasted off creating tons of debris and toxic sludge in one of the most ecologically sensitive areas in the world.
