Panel Event to Address Impact of Development on Manitoba Wildlife

WINNIPEG – The Wilderness Committee will be co-hosting a panel event tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22nd to draw attention the diversity of wildlife in Manitoba and the threats species face due to development. The event, called Animals on the Land: What a Developing Manitoba Means for Wildlife, marks the 20th anniversary of the International Day for Biological Diversity – a global occasion adopted by the United Nations in an effort to increase understanding and awareness about biodiversity issues.
WHAT: The panel will focus on the various ways that Manitobans can help stop biodiversity loss and protect wild species as the province continues to be developed, identifying activities that are particularly detrimental to important animal species. Panelists will also discuss which types of programs and public policies are effective in allowing animals and plants to thrive in Manitoba.
