A poll taken by Angus McAllister in the South Okanagan - Similkameen between May 26 - 30 suggests that support for a national park in the area is strong.
The poll, which included residents from Keremeos to Osoyoos and north to Summerland, found support for the park at 63 per cent in favour with 23 per cent opposed.
The top concerns amongst area residents were related to the environment, followed by conservation, water and the economy,” said Gwen Barlee, Policy Director for the Wilderness Committee.
“Respondents felt it was important to protect the ecosystem locally, with 95 per cent saying “yes” to that question,” Barlee said.
