On May 27, 2010 the Wilderness Committee and the Council of Senior Citizens Organization hosted an event in the community of Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast to talk about ways in which British Columbians could work together to keep BC's rivers wild and power public.
The evening event, MC'ed by MLA Nicholas Simons featured Gwen Barlee of the Wilderness Committee who focused on the BC government's 2002 Energy Plan which has unleashed a private power company staking rush on BC's rivers, streams and lakes.
Next to speak was Daniel Bouman of the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association who explained the recent disaster at the Tyson Creek power project.
And the final speaker was Bob Price of the Council of Senior Citizens Organization who first discovered the disaster at Tyson Creek and alerted the public.
