Salmon Dance on the Brunette River

Sunday, October 25, 2009

This is a five minute long video shot in October of 2009 of chum salmon returning to the Brunette River to spawn. The Brunette River drains Burnaby Lake, and its watershed spans Burnaby, New Westminster, Vancouver and Coquitlam. The Brunette River has runs of chum, pink and coho salmon in the fall. By reducing car travel, and walking, riding a bike or taking transit we can reduce the amount of oily runoff draining into this urban salmon stream. By supporting a ban on the use of cosmetic lawn and garden pesticides we can reduce toxins from finding their way into this beautiful stream. Lets all do our part to make sure the Brunette Salmon Dance goes on forever!
