BURNABY, BC – Students at Simon Fraser University (SFU) are hosting a week-long event to discuss crucial questions about energy and the economy in the face of global climate change. The event, called Reinvest in our Future, begins on Monday, March 23rd with a series of dialogues about fossil fuel divestment, green energy alternatives and the ways fossil fuel projects like the Kinder Morgan tar sands pipeline create barriers to a cleaner future.

WHAT: Reinvest in our Future is a week-long engagement event that will allow students to explore their visions for a green energy future, as well as the university’s role in helping to create that future. Organized by the Simon Fraser Student Society, SFU350 and other student groups, the event is intended to complement the Divest SFU campaign, which aims to realign SFU’s investment practices with its research record and sustainability values.

As part of the event, the Wilderness Committee will be engaging students in a participatory dialogue on Monday, March 23 called “Visioning our Future.” Students are invited to develop a vision for the world they wish to work in, and the results of the session will be delivered to the SFU Board of Governors.
