Fallout after a fatal shooting outside of a Site C public meeting in Dawson Creek last week.
Protests against the project have been cancelled, and BC Hydro has postponed its jobs fairs.
Joe Foy with the Wilderness Committee says Thursday’s protest outside the BC Hydro offices in downtown Vancouver has been cancelled because of possible violence.
The move comes in the wake of a man, believed to be linked to the online hacker group Anonymous, being gunned down by police outside a Site C open house in Dawson Creek.
“I have not seen somebody lose their life in this kind of an incident in environmental campaigning in the last 30 years, so it’s a shocker.”
Meanwhile, BC Hydro has postponed its job fairs in Tumbler Ridge, Fort St. John and Chetwynd until September, while it reviews policies for public meetings.
48 year old James McIntyre was killed.
He was allegedly wearing a mask, and brandishing a knife.
