West Vancouver Pipeline and Tanker Town Hall
Media Advisory - December 10, 2012
WEST VANCOUVER – This evening, the Wilderness Committee and Tanker Free BC will be hosting a town hall meeting in West Vancouver to discuss potential risks and impacts of the proposed Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline and resulting oil tanker traffic.
WHAT: Panelists will be providing information on the proposed pipeline, which would bring 300 or more Aframax-sized tankers past West Vancouver’s shores every year. Residents have raised concerns about the proposal, as popular local landmarks like Lighthouse Park and Ambleside Beach would be on the front lines in the event of a potential tanker spill in the area. West Vancouver’s municipal government has also passed a motion to oppose the new Kinder Morgan pipeline. This town hall meeting will give residents the opportunity to raise concerns, ask questions and learn about specific impacts related to the proposed project.

- Ben West, Wilderness Committee
- Sven Biggs, Tanker Free BC
- Rueben George, Tsleil-Waututh Nation
- Ta’Kaiya Blaney, youth activist and singer-songwriter
