Wilderness Committee to seek to limit logging company’s Walbran Valley injunction
Media Advisory
VANCOUVER – The Wilderness Committee, represented by lawyers at Ecojustice, will be in court tomorrow seeking to set aside an interim injunction granted to logging company Teal Jones. The injunction, which erroneously names the Wilderness Committee as organizers of a blockade in the Walbran Valley on Vancouver Island, was sought to prevent protesters from interfering with the company’s logging operations.
The BC Supreme Court interim injunction is currently in effect.
Wilderness Committee spokespeople and lawyers from Ecojustice will address the media and take questions before appearing in court to seek to have the injunction set aside. The groups will be joined by a small group of friends and allies demonstrating support for the protection of the Walbran Valley’s ancient forest.
