Heather (she/her) currently resides in Manitoba on Treaty One Territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
Heather is the Policy Advocacy Director at the Manitoba Eco-Network and a Ph.D. candidate at the Natural Resources Institute. Heather has three prior degrees from the University of Manitoba from the Faculty of Arts (Global Political Economy) and the Faculty of Law (J.D. and LL.M.). She received her Call to the Bar in 2014. Before returning to the University of Manitoba to continue her graduate studies, Heather practiced law and undertook legal and policy work for several organizations including the Manitoba Law Reform Commission and the Public Interest Law Centre. Heather’s current work and research focus on improving public access to environmental justice in Canada. She teaches environmental law and governance courses at the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg. In her spare time, she enjoys being outside as much as possible. Her favourite outdoor activities include hiking, skiing, swimming, kayaking and taking her dogs Teddy and Cosmo for walks.
