Katie (she/her) currently resides in Toronto on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishnaabeg, Chippewa, Haudenosaunee and Wendat.
Katie is our first-ever Ontario Campaigner! She works to build relationships and advocate towards strong campaigns to advance the Wilderness Committee's goals of people-powered wilderness preservation for the benefit of all in Ontario. Katie works from the traditional territory of Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishnaabeg, Chippewa, Haudenosaunee and Wendat. Her work allows her to share her values and passion for facilitating nature engagement and protection through grassroots social movements. Katie's extensive knowledge and passion for nature come from 15 years in outdoor environmental education, including community-based restoration in Ontario's endangered Black Oak Savannah ecosystems. She has also worked as a campaigner at Environmental Defence and Toronto350.org and as a canvasser at Earthroots. In her free time, Katie is an avid hiker, naturalist and student of Indigenous traditional ecological knowledge and storytelling. She loves gardening, cooking and slowly learning the art of permaculture. You can find her in the spring foraging for wild mushrooms, leeks and fiddleheads.
