Major Opportunity to create B.C. Wilderness and Parks Systems

This is a 1991 Wilderness Committee special report to our members. The report details some of the activities and campaigns we were involved in and features efforts to see the Kitlope Valley designated as a protected area. This was eventually achieved in 1994 when the Kitlope Heritage Conservancy was legislated. See our History and Achievements page. The report also featured a BC government push to increase the extent of the province's protected areas system. By the end of the decade of the 90s the amount of protected parkland in BC had more than doubled.
