Save Vancouver's Wilderness Backyard
Wednesday, February 02, 1994
This is a 1994 Wilderness Committee education report about the campaign to protect the Pinecone Burke wilderness area in the Pitt Lake region of the Lower Mainland. The report describes a hiking route that spans the wilderness area and warns of a logging threat to a key part of the wilderness - the Boise Valley. Public meetings regarding the fate of this wilderness area are advertized in the report and people are encouraged to attend.
In 1995 the campaign was successful with the creation of the Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. See our History and Achievements page.
