The Stein Wilderness is in danger of immediate destruction
Tuesday, October 15, 1985
This is a 1985 Wilderness Committee education report about the fight to protect the Stein River Valley from being logged. The education report describes BC government plans to subsidize the logging company's road building in the Stein Valley to the tune of several million dollars. The education report also describes what happened at the Stein Voices for the Wilderness gathering in the alpine of the watershed. Several hundred people came together to plan how to protect the Stein. This campaign eventually met with success in 1995 when the Stein River Valley was designated as the Stein Valley Nlaka’pamux Heritage Park. See our History and Achievements page.
