This is a 1990 Wilderness Committee education report about the campaign to protect the Lower Tsitika Valley from logging plans by MacMillan Bloedel. The report has a chronology of events leading up to the protests over the logging. The mouth of the Tsitika Valley is a famous gathering place for Orca Whales and environmentalists were concerned that the proposed logging would disrupt the whales. In 1994, after years of campaigning and protests the campaign met with success with the designation of the Lower Tsitika River Provincial Park. See our History and Achievements page.
