Beautiful Clayoquot Sound
Monday, July 15, 1996
This is a 1996 Wilderness Committee education report about the campaign to save the intact forests of Clayoquot Sound from on-going logging plans. This report documents the three hiking trails in Clayoquot that the Wilderness Committee helped construct - Meares Island trails, Clayoquot Valley Witness Trail and the Wild Side Trail on Flores Island. The report also calls for Clayoquot Sound to be designated a Biosphere Reserve to help move the preservation campaign forward. In 2000 the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve was designated. The Wilderness Committee continues to work with our allies to see all of Clayoquot's intact forest areas protected from logging.
